7 Powerful Reasons EVERY Adult Should Be Enrolled at Nishime Family Karate

Dear Friend,

The physical benefits of Karate are obvious – you can see the changes in the mir-ror. The mental benefits, which are perhaps even more important, can be seen in your outlook, performance, and approach to life’s challenges. When you look great, you feel great…giving you a level of confidence that makes you unstoppa-ble!

My name is Kiyoshi Nishime and I have been teaching Karate in the Greater Cin-cinnati area since moving here from Okinawa in 1972. I teach Shima-ha Shorin-ryu, a style of martial arts whose roots go back hundreds of years. The many life-saving and life changing benefits of martial arts training are something you need now more than ever before. I feel this so strongly that I’ve taught and continue to teach these skills to my wife, my sons (who teach as well) and now my grandsons in this art.

I’m not talking only about basic self-defense skills, either. I’m talking about a comprehensive approach to this art that will help you get control of your life!

#1 LOSE WEIGHT!
Our classes are a great way to lose those extra pounds, build muscle and wake up your metabolism. A 180 lb. person will burn 440 calories in a half hour of Karate training. Compare that to 290 calories for 30 minutes of vigorous aerobics or 324 calories from running for a half hour at a 12-minute per mile pace! You’ll see ma-jor changes in your body with our classes. Kick your metabolism into high gear, build muscle, increase flexibility, and burn tons of calories.

#2 IMPROVE YOUR HEALTH!
At Nishime Family Karate our classes are structured to give you a total body work-out. We combine modern fitness techniques with ancient training methods to help you develop strength, flexibility, muscle tone and cardio-vascular health. Your resting heart rate will lower and your ability to maintain an increased heart rate will improve. You’ll become more resistant to illness and will find your recovery time is shorter when you do get sick. Karate can lower your blood pressure. You will feel less stressed and your improved conditioning will help you move better, breathe better, and sleep better.

#3 EXERCISE YOUR MIND AND YOUR BODY!
If you are the kind of person who gets bored running on a treadmill or who finds their attention wandering during a typical exercise class, we guarantee that our classes will keep your mind active and focused. At Nishime Family Karate you will be learning new skills as well as many ways to apply those skills. Our classes are positive, energetic, and fun. In fact, you’ll have so much fun learning, that you’ll hardly even notice that you’re working out!

#4 LEARN SELF-DEFENSE!
Karate is the ancient art of self defense used by ancient warriors to defend their homes and families. Studying these fighting techniques means much more than how to kick, block and punch. It also means developing the traits of a successful warrior, such as extreme self-discipline, confidence, focus, respect, fitness, and health.
The physical side of self-defense includes improving your strength, flexibility, and overall health. You will also learn to strike with tremendous power and effective-ness through the practical skills of Shima-ha Shorin-ryu. Hopefully, you will never have the need to use the self-defense techniques you learn from Karate to defend yourself against a physical attack, but the character traits you will develop from Karate training will help you at home, work, in social settings, and every walk of life. And after all, should the occasion arise shouldn’t everyone know how to protect themselves?

The internal side of self-defense includes learning how to avoid dangerous situations and the need for physical confrontation. You’ll learn to increase your awareness in order to spot danger and avoid dangerous people, places, and situations and the appearance of calm self-assurance will make you less likely to become a target of victimization.

#5 ACHIEVE TOTAL CONFIDENCE!
It’s true. Adults who study Karate quickly develop better self-confidence. Karate gives you the opportunity to continually challenge your body and mind and push yourself fur-ther than you ever thought possible. Our teachers will guide you to successfully meet and conquer these challenges so you become stronger both mentally and physically. Success builds confidence. Improved confidence leads to better performance at work, better rela-tionships, better performance in sports, and a positive attitude toward any of life’s chal-lenges in all areas of life.

#6 GET PERSONAL ATTENTION FROM EXPERTS!
Karate training should not feel like a cookie-cutter experience. At Nishime Family Karate we know that everyone starts with varying levels of ability and different needs and goals. Whether you are looking for a Life Coach, a Personal Trainer, or just someone to guide you through a difficult move, our teachers are there for you! We offer daily classes in both empty-hand Karate and weapons, special training for students who have a desire to compete, and opportunities for those who want to achieve professional athletic levels.
To get certified as instructors, our Black Belts are required to have a minimum of 7000 hours of physical training and 5000 hours of instructor training. My sons Ben and Jason have over 5 times that amount of experience and continue to train several hours a day.
What this means for you is that as your needs change, we are there every step of the way with experience and knowledge to help you develop and achieve new goals.

#7 WORK OUT WITH FUN PEOPLE!!
Are you tired of the scene at the local gym or health club where you are a nameless face in the crowd? At our schools you are part of the Nishime Karate family. We notice when you’re not in class…and so do your classmates. Our classes are structured to challenge you, but the atmosphere is relaxed. Our students encourage each other to try harder but are not competitive. You’ll enjoy the feeling of comraderie you get from others who are striving for similar goals, experiencing similar challenges, and cheering you on as you progress. We get enough stress from life…working out should be FUN!

When I came into the dojo for the first time a few years back, little did I know how much of an impact karate would have on my life. I didn’t realize how much I would change and how I could see many things in my life a different way. An obvious change is that I’m in better shape now than I have ever been. I’m thinner, faster, and more flexible than I have ever been in my whole life.

Karate is a great teacher. It teaches discipline, confidence, patience, an even a sense of peace. My time in class is in-tense…so intense that it makes me for-get everything else I tend to be con-sumed with on a daily basis. It is a time to clear my mind and focus on what I am doing at that moment.

I am physically stronger than I have ever been in my life. That is a great feeling. Confidence has grown in many areas of my life, not just karate. In fact, striving for my Black Belt has inspired me to reach other goals, like running my first marathon this May.

I’ve been training in Karate since I was 5 years old. Since then I’ve achieved Black Belt, competed (and medaled) in international competition, and learned to become a Karate Instructor. Shihan Nishime, Sensei Ben, and Sensei Jason have been with me every step of the way. I’ve learned that more you learn, the more there is to learn and my teach-ers and mentors will continue to chal-lenge and motivate me.
